My first steps with Augmented Reality!

A friend of mine asked me to produce a poster incorporating Augmented Reality. I'm happy to share this first prototype. This project was designed for the poster of the WorldSkills 2025 competition for high schools, with the aim of improving its impact with additional content via AR.
Learning 🌟
From the start, I struggled to find the right software solution. I needed a tool that was easy to use, without having to code anything. I was taken aback by several versions circulating on the app stores allowing you to see a 3D dinosaur walking around your living room, but without offering any real added value in terms of design. I had to try and test...and waste a little time. The environment could sometimes be too technical or too expensive for someone who just wants to explore AR perspectives. I wanted to use Adobe Aero, accessible through my Adobe license, but the lack of an Android version was a setback. On most other software options, I've seen recurring issues like non-working Android versions or persistent bugs on PC. Eventually, I came across ARmedia offering a free version for a trial project.Using ARmedia wasn't very intuitive at first, but a brief tutorial got me started. I integrated my first bits of 3D content and was pretty happy with the results. The AR functionality added an engaging layer to the poster, making it ideal for drawing attention to Marseille's international competition.
 How it works 📱
Using the ARmedia reader on a smartphone, the audience can scan a QR code on the visual (whether printed or digital), thus triggering the AR experience. The magic happens as you move your smartphone around the poster. You discover interactive pictograms highlighting different professions such as cooking, construction, graphics and fashion.
The Impact 💡
AR components display correctly, allowing the audience to learn more about the competition. The feedback from testers around me has been positive. Although AR today is quite restrictive (requiring the appropriate application depending on the broadcasters), it shows enormous potential for tutorials, technical training and other industrial applications where it can really add value.
Below are some visuals of the project, including the poster, screenshots of the AR result from my phone and the QR code to test the experience for yourself. 👇
